>>Resurfaced Courts 4-6 Your Questions Answered
· Why are the courts black? - As explained in The Ball (newsletter), Autumn 2011, we have to allow the asphalt to 'cure' before it can be painted.
· When will they be painted? - About 6 weeks after the asphalt was laid in mid December.
· Will we play matches on 4,5&6? - Other courts will be used as far as possible
· Balls are discoloured very quickly - Yes, most members will be familiar with the problem. It is a nuisance but better than losing the use of the courts altogether, which is the only alternative.
· Why are the balls so wet having used 4,5&6? - The club is looking into this. Extensive drilling has been carried out to LTA recommended specs, to improve the drainage.
· The courts appear to be retaining moisture? - see above
· How quickly will the courts drain when they are painted? - We hope any initial problem will be resolved by then and drilling carried out should produce an improvement on hitherto.
· Will the court booking allocations change during the transition period? - Keith is looking into this
Head Coach, Nigel Mann, writes: I was very impressed with the work ethic of the contractors, the courts relaying process looked good so it will be very interesting to see how the courts perform in the years to come.
